45 min by car or bus from Boston, Lowell is just far enough in the Merrimack Valley to make it interesting, but close enough that you can get back and forth when you want.
Lowell is close to three airports - one for private planes, the other serviced by any major airline. If you are coming from the South or the Midwest,or the West Coast for the September Festival, you will need to find your way to Boston Logan, Manchester–Boston Regional Airport or Hanscom Airfield.

There is a Commuter Rail option when coming by train to Lowell from Boston and beyond. You can check out connections with the LRTA or MBTA. Here you can also find information about local bus connections. MBTA and LRTA both provide daily service to Lowell from Boston Logan Airport, Boston South Station and other locations. If you prefer a car, Uber has plenty of drivers around in Lowell and Greater Boston.
